An approach to psychology that women will embrace
Home Solar Gardening
Published in Paperback by Key Porter Books (April, 2002)
Average review score:

An amazing bookI have the older-unupdated version of this book and I am really happy that it is still available. It has everything in it from how to garden in your home (as is) to building a variety of solar structures (from outdoor "boxes" to solar pits and free standing greenhouses). Also there are recipes for soaps, teas and things like that which can be made from greenhouse-grown items. This book is really comprehensive and easy to read-- and emphasizes economically viable ways of doing things, and also variations for northern climates, which I really appreciate.
Recommended whole-heartedly!
Much happiness with your solar gardening, tonya

Touching ,Honesty & StrengthI purchased this book because my sister suffered a stroke at a young age. This woman not only suffered a stroke, she raises her children and is continually dedicated to helping other victims. I would recommend this book to any one for it is also an eye opener to a better appreciation of life.

In the Ring of the Rise
Published in Hardcover by The Lyons Press (January, 1988)
Average review score:

More of the bestMarinaro's sequel to 'A Modern Dry Fly Code' only adds to his flawless reputation as America's most important spring creek angling author.
While it is not the ground-breaking work of his first book, it will, nevertheless, provoke much thought on the part of the contemplative angler.
True, there are points which could be argued (Vince and I never agreed on rod action, for one), but the author makes his points, and back them up with clear sound logic.
This book should be in the library of every spring crrek angler.

Incomplete Philosophy of Hope and Nonthings

Buy this now (or kick yourself later)This book of plays sits on a shelf in my head alongside Camus, Satre, Ingmar Bergman, Harold & Maude, Dave Eggars, Nick Drake, and several other GREAT works I can't put my finger on at the moment. It is serious, it is funny, and it is poignant. Despite some time-bending/shape-shifting plot abstractions, it feels real and it feels honest. It is, at times, intentionally absurd, which seems to me to be a reflection of the sort of conflicting inner dialogue we all have swishing around in our head at times, as well as the deceptive elusiveness of reality: "I could be this, I could be that" or "It is like this, it is like that". If you think you know reality, you don't know much, now, do you? But, you can examine it, pick it apart, experience it, revel in it, be confused by it and hopefully, over time, understand it. Existence-- ahhh... I would write something intelligent here, but that's all existence does: exist. What more is there to say? I am surprised that I haven't heard more about this book in the typical circles of above-average, high-minded, down-to-earth, honest-to-goodness "fringe dwellers"-- you know the type: truth seekers, music lovers, bookworms who are slightly cut off from society not by a choice to simply be "different", but by an honest weeding-out process of preference; people on the cusp of understanding purposeful existence rather than mediocrity and day-to-numbness. These people actively persue what interests them out of broadly ranging curiousity or finely tuned interest. They can't understand themselves very well or others very well and are not afraid of this: they understand that understanding is something that needs to be understood. They take a wild stab in the dark seeking to pick something meaningful out of the void or perform meticulous research, hoping to find some particular piece of a puzzle they are putting together at their own pace. These are the people who feel the need to experience things for themselves to know the true quality of the experience, whether good or bad, who live life as though there is something just out of their reach they might discover one day. They have learned the art of conversation through intense introspection, familiarity with self-doubt and self-discipline. They have become self-assured thanks to their own flailing trials of life. And they are not ashamed to tell you what they've learned, what they've done or how they feel. This book is for those people. It is worth every penny. This is a limited run, and I suspect, due to the fact that this was totally independently produced, with little-to-no-advertising (I haven't seen more than a sentence or two of the author's own description-- I think he'd rather you read it for yourself and make of it what you will) ...it may be a while before there is a second printing, so choose wisely and get it now.

An Instrument of Revival: The Complete Life of Evan Roberts, 1878-1951
Published in Paperback by Bridge-Logos Publishers (December, 1995)
Average review score:

Very Comprehensive! The Welsh Revival of 1904 is one of the most fascinating of the many experienced in Wales. Evan Roberts is a challenge to the modern pulpiteer in that he was not as well educated or experienced, but he was simply a man whose heart was ablaze for CHRIST. Mr. Jones did a superb job on the entire life of this unique man. I recommend it for it imparts vision and also warning of the enemy's tactics to destroy revival and the ones whom GOD uses. He showed the changes in Evan's life and heart that transpired through the years, yet he clearly showed us that Evan's heart never stopped beating for heaven sent revival!

Wonderful, extremely useful book.I have used this book in the classroom and in workshops with parents and children. There are many very exciting and useful exercises for teachers, parents or counselors for working with children off all ages. The exercises are fun and will help bring out the best in your children or students. I recommend this book highly. Dwayne McKinney
This book demonstrates how traditional psychology is based on a male point of view, and it reveals some of the unknown about healthly "life-giving" attitudes. Read this quickly, before you buy into an archaic model once again. Amazing, in this day and age, that this light has not been shed on us before.
